Located on Buffalo Street (Route 62) between Pleasant Avenue and Union Street, this lively library is nestled in the village of Hamburg. If you are looking for a great film collection, preschool story hours or a comfortable place to catch up on the daily news, the Hamburg Public Library may be the place for you. 

Our parking lot entrance is located on Union Street near the Buffalo Street intersection.

Free WiFi. 21 public access computers plus 6 laptops that can be checked out for use within the building. Networked printing is 10¢ per page B&W and 25¢ per page color. Copy machine at 25¢ per page.

The Hamburg Library has a meeting room that can be available for community meetings. Please complete the following application and return to the main desk.

Storytime Shook Up: Fridays at 10am with Miss Laurie. Geared toward ages 2-5.

Moving Mondays: Mondays at 10:30 with Miss Laurie. Geared toward ages 2-5.

Seussical Celebration: Join us in our week long event starting Friday, March 2 through Saturday, March 10th!    

Our official Seussical Celebration kickoff: Friday March 2 come in and join us for the places you will go on our library scavenger hunt. Check out our Seuss stops for crafts, coloring, games, and other silly Seussical shenanigans!!

Family Movie Night: March 2, 6:30 pm. The Lorax. Join us in celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a movie and craft! Registration required.

Cat in the Hat Cocoa Bar Chat: March 3, 1pm. Join us in our ongoing celebrations over hoopla and hot chocolate!! All ages welcome!!

Phoebe the Reading Dog: March 4, 12-1. Visit Phoebe, our certified therapy dog, at the Hamburg Library! She loves to listen to stories!

Census Records: Tuesday March 6, 6 pm. This introductory genealogy course will teach you how to use U.S. and New York State census records as a pathway to your early U.S. ancestors. Learn how to how to read census records, what information they can tell you, what census resources are available through the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System, and how to use the census as a framework for future research. Registration required.

Seussical Saturday: Saturday, March 10 at 10 am. Dr. Seuss Party with Miss Laurie! All ages welcome. Registration required.

Luck o’ The Irish Storytime:   Saturday 17, 2 pm.  All wee lads and lasses are invited to join us for crafts and stories. Ages 3 and up. Registration required.

Lego Club: March 10, 1-3pm: Oh, the thinks you can think… Make a Seussical Sensation Lego Creation! Registration required.

Book a Tech Trainer: March 12, 11-2. Sign up for a 45 minute session to work with someone one-on-one for technology assistance.

Page to Screen Movie Night: March 12, 6:30pm. Wonder. Watch the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. Based on the book by R. J. Palacio.

Director's Book Club: April 20, 11am. Manhunt: The 12 Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson. Copies can be picked up at the desk!

Cookbook Club: March 16, 6:30pm. Visit the desk to view the cookbook and select a recipe. Prepare the dish and try others, potluck style!

Phoebe the Reading Dog: Sunday March 18 from 12-1. Read a story to Phoebe the Reading Dog! 

Storytime at the Comfort Zone Cafe: March 27, 10am. Join us for a story and craft at Comfort Zone! Stop by the counter to check out the specials available just for storytime attendees!

Engineering Fairytales: April 2, 1:30. Help some of your favorite fairy tale characters solve their problems with hands-on projects! Rapunzel is trapped in her tower and needs to escape--help her by building a zip line! Jack is in danger when he takes the golden eggs--help him by building an extending grabber! For ages 6-10. Registration required.

Family Movie Night: April 6th, 6:30. Watch Coco and make a craft! Registration required.

National Library Week: April 9-14.We are celebrating Ludwig Bemelmans’ Madeline, the book that first introduced the world to one of the most beloved characters of all time. The same Madeline your parents and grandparents grew up reading has stood the test of time. Stop in for crafts, activities, scavenger hunt and raffle!

Pepito Pajama Party: April 10th, 6:30. We will be reading the Bad Hat! Craft and pajama silliness. Registration required.

LEGO Club: April 14, 1-3. Create a library-themed LEGO creation. Registration required.

Storytime at Comfort Zone Café: April 24, 10. The Hamburg Public Library and Comfort Zone Cafe are teaming up to bring you a storytime and craft! Stop by the counter before or after the program to check out the specials available just for program attendees!

Heritage Quest 101: April 9, 6. Learn more about HeritageQuest Online, a free genealogy database available through your library. It includes valuable family history content such as U.S. Federal Census Records, city directories, Revolutionary War pension files, Freedmen's Bank Records, and thousands of family and local history books. Registration required.

Book a Tech April 16, 12-3. Sign up for a 45 minute session to work with a technology instructor. Registration required.

Page to Screen Movie: April 16, 6:30. Jumanji! Four teenagers are sucked into a video game, and the only way they can escape is to work together to finish the game. Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg.
